Literacy
Newborn literacy - Literacy kits continue to be distributed to parents of newborns in Baker County as a result of a District Simplified Grant received in 2007. By providing the kits to Baker County, we are expanding the reach of Jacksonville Mayor Peyton’s program into a traditionally underserved rural area.

Rotaract
Until the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville sponsors a new Rotaract Club, we will continue to treat the Rotaract of Florida’s First Coast as one of our own. West Jacksonville partially underwrites the Rotaract club’s annual fundraiser, the Blue Jeans and Black Tie Gala, and promotes the event to our membership.

West Jacksonville is an active supporter of the Interact Club at Bishop Snyder HS Interact Club.

Brazilian Defibrillators and Electrocardiographs
Our club is participating in a matching grant program with the Jaguarao, Brazil Rotary District 4780 to provide defibrillators and electrocardiographs to the local Cancer Combat women’s league. The Brazil district believes this equipment will benefit 100,000 people. Our club is providing $2,500 toward the total cost of $13,000. (health)
Diabetes Awareness
Diabetes Awareness is a matching grant program with the La Plata Sur Rotary club in Argentina. I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless
Once per quarter, the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville cooks and serves a hot lunch at the I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless. The meal is prepared between 9 and 11 am, and served from 11 am until 1 pm. Generally, 12 volunteers are needed for each shift.
