West Word for 8/19/2009

Cole Pepper
Sportscaster

For the last 13 years, you’ve heard and seen Cole Pepper on the radio and TV covering sports in Jacksonville. Cole moved to Jacksonville in November of 1996…just about the time the Jaguars started their memorable run to the AFC Championship game. The following season, he began his duties as the studio host for the Jaguars Radio Network. This August, he began a new chapter in his career. After his previous station decided to save a few bucks by eliminating his position, he joined 1010XL as that station’s Jaguars reporter. He can be heard reporting on the team throughout the day, and as a co-host with Frank Frangie and Rick Ballou from 4-7pm. This football season, Cole will once again be hosting pre- and post-game shows before and after the Jaguars games, but this time he’ll be heard on 1010 AM. Pete Banaszak will join him for the post-game show this once again.

You may also have seen Cole filling in as a sports anchor on Channel 4 and next March, he’ll renew his role as the Public Address announcer for the NCAA Tournament when it comes to Jacksonville. You may also know that he has his own line of “Cole Pepper’s Blackjack BBQ Sauce” and this past May, he created, along with his in-laws, the Jacksonville Backyard BBQ Championships, that raised nearly $12,000 for the Glyn Cook Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to children who complete the Project Prepare program at Daniel. Cole is a board member at Daniel and in April he and his wife Emily celebrated their first anniversary.
