Bruce Hamilton
Anchor, The Morning Show
An Emmy Award-winning television, radio and newspaper journalist has joined the anchor team of Channel 4’s the morning show.
Bruce Hamilton first realized his broadcasting dream while attending high school in Philadelphia.
During his career, Bruce’s job as a newsman has taken him from his hometown to Albuquerque, N.M., Tucson, Ariz., Orlando, Fla., and Jacksonville.
Along the way, Bruce has engaged in one-on-one interviews with presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, as well as numerous world leaders.
Bruce also covered the major political conventions and reported from breaking news spots around the world.
His reporting was recognized by the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences, the Central Florida Press Club and several other journalistic, civic and religious institutions.
Bruce has four sons: Jeff, Steve, Greg and Tim.
Notes
The meeting began with Mike Thomas playing Scottish Bag Pipes. This was very entertaining and all seem to enjoy.
President John called his first meeting full Rotary meeting to order and asked than Alton Yates lead in the Prayer and Frank Scheu to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance.
John Bickerstaff reminded everyone that the Blood Mobile was in the parking lot and that although an announcement was not timely, that he appreciated all who gave blood.
Bill Howie announced that the July 22, 2009 meeting will be at the Jaguar Stadium and that all who wished to attended needed to place their names on the sign up sheets on the tables. This is so an accurate count of members and guest could be provided the Jaguars. He also spoke on Polio Plus for just a second.
When Marty Sack was called upon for comments, he stated: “This has been a good week, no one died”
John Runion displayed an article in the Florida Times Union Riverside Section which was about all of the Attorneys who provided legal aid. This was a community act by local attorneys to help poor and underprivileged. Thank you to all club members who participated.
Two new members were inducted: Matt Corley presented by Paul Mohrman and Josh Harrison presented by Phil Murphy.
Nina Sasser our new Sergeant At Arms introduced visiting Rotarians and Guests.
President John then spoke for the annual Club Assembly Program.
He shared his recent visit to Birmingham, England in which he attended the Annual Rotary International Meeting. This meeting celebrated the 100th year of the RI Conventions, 15,000 attended, 154 countries were represented. There are 1.2 million Rotary Members representing 33,000 clubs. The new Rotary International President, John Kenny spoke on the Theme of the 2009-2010 year. “The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands”
The goals for the 2009 - 2010 year is:
Member Growth
Strong Indoctrinations to help new member learn Rotary, how it helps the communities which they are located and what they as members can do.
Education
Water and Food for the poor
District Governor Dave Faraldo has set the following as the districts goals:
Net 1 Paul Harris member for each club
Net 2 new members for each club during the year
Purple Pinkie Program (we will find out more during future meetings)
Youth Exchange
President John then introduced the New Club Officers and Board Members.
The meeting ended with a Jib Jab Video showing our Officers doing an exciting “Can Can” dance. Nice legs everyone.
The Official Close of the Meeting was the quoting of the Four Way Test.

Waddell Wallace’s name was submitted to fill one of two seats on Florida’s First District Court of Appeal (DCA) by the Jacksonville legal community. First DCA Judges Michael Allen and Edwin Browning will be stepping down. Interviews will be conducted July 23-24.
